    What's Going On...

    Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 09:34 PM [General]

Well, where do we start, at the beginning of course...  Our coven is meeting on Friday night for out Midsummer meeting and ritual. It shall be such fun. I have a great recipe for non-alcoholic meade that I am going to whip up for us. If the weather permits, we shall have a bonfire outside, and have our fun around it.

On Saturday the 21st, we are going to the local PowWow, it is my first one of the season. I go to several a year and am truely looking forward to going this weekend. My Lakota language learning is going quite well, the Cherokee a little slower, but going. I love learning them.  My son's fiancee gave me a beautiful dream catcher bracelet today. I love it.!!

Our trip last weekend to Southeast Iowa where I am from was fun, just not enough time. We did go over into Missouri and get fireworks. There was a hellish storm right when we got to my Sister's house in Iowa, but we loaded up and went to Missouri (only 7 miles away) to get fireworks.  Missouri had gotten hit worse with the storm than Iowa did. We ended up shopping for fireworks in the dark with flashlights!! It was fun, Only in Missouri...!! LOL! The flooding around Ottumwa, Ft. Madison, Keokuk and  Burlington Iowa was awful, but it got worse this past few days. I am glad that we went last weekend, I really don't think we would have made it this weekend with the way everything is flooding and underwater. Things happen for a reason...

Well, check out my new slideshow on my site if you want. I put some photos up of my son and his fiancee's handfasting, it was beautiful... also of last Samhain when the members of our coven wore our conical hats to ritual, what a blast! We had a truely huge feast afterwards. YUMMY!! There is also some of my favorite Lakota photos one of White Buffalo Calf Woman, and Kangi Winyan, Crow Woman. Check it out.

Take care everyone.  Waste Lake... Bless-ed Be and Merry Part...

    Maintaining The Sacred Hoop

    Thursday, June 5, 2008, 06:11 PM [General]

We must maintain The Sacred Hoop we have within us, our families and our lives in general. If The Sacred Hoop becomes compromised, if may not be within our power to repair it.  Those that we love, and how we keep relationships with them matter in The Sacred Hoop, how we keep a relationship with Ina Maka, Mother Earth, The Bright Lady,  Sky Father and The Great Mystery Wakan Tanka. We must respect All within our Sacred Hoop. The plant life, water, air, animals and Everything in general. Everything that we have thought, said, accomplished, failed, people we have loved and disliked, known and known of, or even will know. This is within our Sacred Hoop. Don't disrespect anything or anyone, and take nothing for granted. Don't let anyone hurt you or The Sacred Hoop... protect it, and keep it sacred.

    Heritage

    Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 05:01 PM [General]

Heritage is a great thing and should never be forgotten. Love who and what you are and don't try to run from it. It will only catch up to you in the long run, or short run. No matter which, just embrace it, live it and love it.

For many years I knew some of my heritage, but always knew there were things missing. Now after years of digging and reading and listening, we have discovered besides knowing that we were Welsh on my Dad's side, there is also Cherokee. Cool!! On my Mom's side we knew there was Cherokee and Jewish. Then we find out Irish and Scotch. Cool again!! I embrace the American Cherokee and all the Celtic as well as the Jewish, I love it all, but I will tell you I am Cherokee American Wiccan!!! Whatever is said, this is blood, this is religion, blah, blah, blah.... I simply say... This Is Me!!! And I Love It!!  I Love any American Indian Blood... Hokahey!!

What changes a year can bring...

    Saturday, May 31, 2008, 06:32 PM [General]

    Hau Mitaku Oyasin!!

Merry meet! It has almost been a year since my last posting. Things have changed so drastically around my tipi. I have become a grandmother, gotten a new job, fallen deeper in love with my husband ( as if that was possible) LOL!! made new acquaintances, made new acquaintances that I am very leery of, and am learning not 1 but 2 American Indian languages. I am learning Lakota, and Cherokee. Our coven... has a year behind it and we are still going strong.  Yes,  I am almost another year older and wiser,  my son has moved out, but I have gained a daughter and grandson. My heart is heavy with lonliness for my son and his smile, but he brings his family to see me and All is right.

Things happen for a reason, I know for a fact. It is indeed, great to be back.

    Love to all,

    Onewiththecrows.

    Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!

    Tuesday, July 3, 2007, 10:37 AM [General]

    Merry Meet All!

It's almost the 4th of July and that means a lot of celebrations to prepare for, participate in and just plain enjoy. I wish every body a safe and happy holiday, and to please remember what it's all about. Light a special candle for our soldiers still fighting for us in the far reaches of the world, and while remembering them, think about soldiers of the past, and what they fought for. Intend this special candle to be for all soldiers, past, present and future and their unselfish deeds. If you have a red, white and blue candle, or all 3 light the blue one for past, red for present and white for future soldiers. Think of them and our country. It's not about the president and who likes him or doesn't like him... it's about the support of our country and our soldiers. Politics can take a backseat on the 4th, and lets just focus on our soldiers and our country... and how lucky we really are to be Americans!!

Thanks!! And Everybody have a great and glorious 4th!!

    Merry Part...

You are sooo cute Joesy - so cherokee is a side is it? hmmmm an embodiment of your nature perhaps - that's how I would describe it - LOL I well know how you feel - for instance I was gardening early in the morn a couple days past and trimming a favorite tree of mine when I trimmed my thumb and first finger instead! LOL being 1/2 Dutch I used my salve to stop the bleeding and being 1/2 British I then finished my work, showered, had a spot of tea and THEN went in for three stitches (as the largerst cut is in the crook of my thumb - the cut on my first finger was smaller and almost healed before I got there) - so at this point I no longer call them a side of me! LOL they are indeed an embodiment of my dual nature!
